About

Kiera Fielding serves as the Florida Sea Grant’s South West Clean Boating Coordinator, extending from Pasco County down to Collier County. Born and raised in Jupiter, FL, she graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelors in Marine Policy and Management and is currently working on her Master of Professional Science (MPS) in Coastal Zone Management from the same institution. Kiera has had multiple internships with agencies across South Florida, such as the Bureau of Land Management and the Loxahatchee River Environmental Control District. She has an interest in public service and environmental stewardship, wanting to educate the public on government policies that are beneficial to the environment. Her hobbies are mainly centered around being outdoors; she enjoys freediving, fishing, and hiking.

Projects, Research & Specializations

The Clean Marina Program and Clean Vessel Act (CVA) encourages marine facilities and boaters to protect Florida’s waterways through best practices and proper waste disposal. In Fielding’s role, she leverages her skills in public outreach and education through site visits and workshops to give boaters the knowledge, tools, and resources to navigate CVA grant applications, and the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of sewage disposal equipment for the Clean Marina Program.

*The Clean Boating Coordinator positions are funded through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
