Marine Science Minute with Florida Sea Grant
Episode 39-Ethical Angling
/
Today on Marine Science Minute with Florida Sea Grant: Ethical AnglingÂ
With 4 million licensed anglers and more world record fish catches than any other country or US state, Florida is known as the fishing capital of the world.  As Florida’s population grows and technology makes catching fish easier than ever, we all need to do our part to reduce pressure on fish populations and the habitats that support them, like seagrasses and reefs. Â
Whether you fish for keeps or prefer catch and release, there are many steps you can take the next time you hit the water to reduce your environmental impact. Â
Florida Sea Grant offers training on ethical fishing practices through the Florida Friendly Angler program, a self-paced online course available to anyone who fishes in Florida. Â
