Today on Marine Science Minute with Florida Sea Grant: Watersheds

A watershed is an area of land where water drains or funnels into a common water body. Actions in a watershed, such as development or wetland restoration, can either help or impact people, animals, and plants located downstream.

Most living things need clean water to survive and the activities in a watershed can determine the quality of the water that flows out to the coast. Smart development, water conservation, limiting fertilizer use, and restoring healthy shoreline habitats are all ways we can start sending cleaner water to our coast.

Florida Sea Grant works to encourage estuary-friendly living so we can all enjoy better water quality throughout our watersheds.
