Women and gender minorities make aquaculture happen.
Developing innovative research, managing environmental resources, and cultivating commodities – the legacy of women, gender-diverse folks, people of color, Indigenous and cultural heritage communities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals on the field of aquaculture is undeniable.
Over the course of two and a half days, we will explore the values of research, community, collaboration, and celebration while bringing together the current and future generations of leaders in aquaculture. This conference will provide attendees with networks of opportunity and support, showcase the diversity of options in aquaculture, provide attendees of all experience levels with practical professional development, and ultimately celebrate, uplift, and empower underrepresented voices in the industry. We have several new programs planned for this year that will expand our reach and impact.
Women of the Water was formed with a vision to build community through connection and empowerment, catalyze learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance professional development opportunities for marginalized and underrepresented groups in aquaculture. This conference is designed to do just that.
