Responsibilities Links diverse extension programs ranging from aquaculture to water quality to fisheries and across different disciplines to solve problems that stretch from the uplands to the coast. Responsible for writing and managing the Sea Grant Extension proposal and securing other extramural grants to support extension programs. Provides guidance to aquatic, coastal marine and natural resource extension programs and interacts with research faculty at all participating Sea Grant institutions to incorporate research results into outreach programs. Plans and evaluates statewide extension programs along with others in the UF Extension Administration. Represents Florida in regional and national extension activities. Specialties Dr. Spranger has 30 years of professional experience in university and extension and outreach activities, including program administration, planning, development and evaluation and has experience in teaching and applied research at the local, state, regional and national levels. He joined Florida Sea Grant in late 2000, after having worked at the University of Washington and University of Wisconsin. He has served in a number of leadership roles nationally, including serving as chair of the National Assembly of Sea Grant Extension Program Leaders and President of the National Marine Educators Association. Dr. Spranger has published 12 referred journal articles, 31 technical papers and reports, non-referred journal articles and conference proceedings, has made 47 invited presentations and has participated in a large number of other extension programs and presentations.
